JUDGMENT IS COMING
“Are you ready, are you ready, are you ready for the judgment day?” Words in a song most of us are familiar with. The stanza implies that all creation needs to prepare for a Judgment Day. Are these words backed up in the scriptures? Yes, please read the following. Ecclesiastes 3:17 – I said in mine heart, Elohim shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Yahweh will judge his people. Deuteronomy 32:36 – For Yahweh shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants … Psalm 50:4 – He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Psalm 135:14 – For Yahweh will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants. Hebrews 10:30 – For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense. And again, Yahweh shall judge his people.
Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of Yahweh, because he cometh to judge the earth, 1 Chronicles 16:33. Before Yahweh: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth, Psalm 96:13. Before Yahweh; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity, Psalm 98:9.
Malachi 3:2-6 – But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver (Yahshua was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver): and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto Yahweh an offering in righteousness (rightness, justice, virtue, prosperity – Strong’s #6666). Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in former years. And I will come near to you to judgment: and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith Yahweh of hosts. For I am Yahweh, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Yahweh gave the commandments to Israel (Jacob), to his twelve sons, their children and their children’s children; laying out rules to live by through his prophets and his apostles.
King David said in Psalm 119 verse 6 – Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. Verse 32 – I will run the way of the commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. Verse 47 – And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. Verse 60, I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
King Solomon in Proverb 19:16 said, He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. Proverb 3:1-2, says, My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. And in Verses 5 and 6, Trust in Yahweh with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
King Solomon continues on in Ecclesiastes 3 verse 1 – To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Verses 16 and 17 – And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there. I said in mine heart, Elohim shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work. Chapter 8 verse 1 – Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. Verse 5 – Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Yahshua’s role in judgment – John 5:20-27: For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and maketh them alive; even so the Son maketh alive whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of Elohim: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
The above passage leads us to believe there is an ongoing judgment after we die, and the judgment is written down in the Lamb’s book of Life. In Revelation 20:4-7: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Yahshua, and for the word of Elohim, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with the Messiah a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of the Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand years are expired, … Verse 12 – And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before the throne; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. This is the great white throne judgment that is mentioned in verse 11.
The population of this earth will be judged by Yahweh’s word that he has preserved throughout the ages. We all need to take heed of the time we are living in, with the recent massive earthquakes in Haiti and Chile and the resulting tsunamis (also, the 9.1 earthquake of Sumatra which triggered a tsunami that killed 226,000); which are signs prophesied in Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11.
Are you ready for your judgment day? Are we ready? Ecclesiastes 12:13 – Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Samuel A. Graham
